Who may start a memorial campaign

This is the part of the review we are strictest about, and it is not a formality.

A memorial campaign must be authorized by an appropriate family member, estate representative, memorial committee, organization, or other person with authority. Organizers may not exploit a death, tragedy, illness, accident, crime, or disaster without appropriate consent. Every campaign is reviewed by a person before it can accept a single payment, and we will decline one where authority cannot be confirmed. The rule exists so that nobody can raise money in a grieving family's name without them.

One thing worth saying plainly, because a memorial wall invites people to write from the heart.

Brick messages are public

A name, dedication, or message appears on the campaign wall for anyone with the link to read. Supporters should not submit anything they would not want displayed publicly.

Every message is moderated

Messages are reviewed before they appear. A supporter can request an edit and the organizer approves it.

Anything can be removed

An organizer can ask for a brick message to be taken down. GiveBrick can decline, pause, or remove a campaign that breaks the rules.

Frequently asked questions

Do we receive physical engraved bricks to install?
No. A GiveBrick purchase is a digital recognition placement on your campaign wall; it does not include a physical, engraved, printed, or mailed brick, unless a specific campaign page expressly states otherwise. If what your family or community wants is a real paver set into a garden or walkway, an engraved-brick vendor is the right choice, and we would rather say so here than after you have applied.

Is buying a brick tax-deductible?
A brick is a recognition purchase, not automatically a tax-deductible donation. If the organization administering the memorial fund sets the campaign up with proper receipt language, tax treatment is governed by that organization and its advisors, not by GiveBrick.
