Questions

Everything organizations ask
before they launch a wall.

Grouped by what you are actually trying to find out. Where an answer is governed by a policy — the Terms, the Refund Policy, the Acceptable Use Policy — it is quoted from that policy rather than softened for the sales page, and linked so you can read the rest.

What GiveBrick is

What is a digital buy-a-brick fundraiser?
Your organization gets a wall: a mosaic laid over an image of your project. Each supporter claims one block, adds a name and a short message, and pays by card. Their block fills in with colour, and the picture completes as the campaign funds. It is the buy-a-brick idea without the manufacturing.
Do we receive physical engraved bricks?
No. A GiveBrick purchase does not include a physical, engraved, printed, or mailed brick, unless a specific campaign page expressly states otherwise. Recognition is a digital placement on the campaign wall. If your organization has a walkway or wall to set real pavers into, an engraved-brick vendor may suit you better.
Do we need somewhere to put a wall?
No. That is the main practical difference from engraved bricks. A digital wall has no installation site, so organizations raising money for uniforms, travel, equipment, or a scholarship fund can run one just as easily as one building a pavilion.
How long does it take to go live?
Days rather than months. You apply, we verify the organization and the person authorizing the campaign, a person reviews the campaign, and then it goes live. There is no production or installation cycle.
What happens if we don't reach the goal?
The wall keeps whatever it raised. Bricks are individual purchases routed to your connected payment account as they happen, so there is no all-or-nothing threshold to miss.

Money and fees

What does GiveBrick cost?
A flat 15% per brick, and nothing else. No setup fee, no monthly fee, no per-campaign charge, and no minimum. Your organization keeps 85% — on a $50 brick that is $42.50, every time.
Is card processing extra?
No. Processing is paid out of GiveBrick's 15%, never out of your 85%. Supporters can also choose to cover processing at checkout, and most do.
Can one wall have several brick prices?
Not today. A campaign has a single brick price and every brick on that wall costs the same. You can set a higher price for a whole wall, or run a second campaign, but one wall cannot mix prices.
Where does the money actually go?
Payments are processed on secure Stripe rails and routed to the organization's connected payment account. GiveBrick collects only its platform fee and never holds funds outside processor rails.
Is buying a brick tax-deductible?
A brick purchase is the purchase of a personalized recognition item, not automatically a tax-deductible donation — unless the receiving organization is a verified tax-exempt charity and the campaign is set up with proper receipt language. Tax treatment depends on the organization, not on GiveBrick.
Can a supporter get a refund?
Refunds run back through the same processor as the original payment, under the terms in the Refund Policy rather than decided case by case.

Who can run a campaign

Who can start a GiveBrick campaign?
An authorized representative of the organization or committee — such as a principal, PTA president, pastor, athletic director, executive director, board member, or memorial committee chair. Every campaign is reviewed before launch.
Can an individual fundraise for themselves?
No. Campaigns are run by organizations, not individuals. An individual may not create a campaign in the name of a team, school, church, family, estate, or nonprofit without authorization.
What do you check before a campaign goes live?
We confirm the organization exists, confirm the person named on the application is in a position to speak for it, review the campaign content, and only then approve it. Nothing goes live automatically and nothing can accept a payment before that review is done.
Who has to authorize a memorial campaign?
An appropriate family member, estate representative, memorial committee, organization, or other person with authority. Organizers may not exploit a death, tragedy, illness, accident, crime, or disaster without appropriate consent.
Whose name is the payout account in?
For schools, churches and nonprofits, GiveBrick may require the campaign's payout account to be established in the name of the organization rather than an individual.

Brick messages and moderation

Are brick messages public?
Yes. Brick content is public — a name, dedication, or message appears on the campaign wall for anyone with the link to read. Supporters should not submit information they do not want displayed publicly.
Can a supporter change their message?
Yes. A supporter can request an edit and the organizer approves it. For moderation reasons every change is reviewed before it appears on the wall.
What can't a brick message contain?
Threats, harassment, hate speech, calls for violence, sexually explicit content, and anything that exploits or endangers a child, among other things set out in the Acceptable Use Policy. Messages are moderated before they appear.
What about campaigns involving children?
Campaigns involving schools, youth teams, churches, clubs, or other youth organizations must protect children's privacy and safety. A message may not publish a child's full identifying information without appropriate permission, or disclose a private address, schedule, phone number, email, school records, or medical information.
What happens to a campaign that breaks the rules?
GiveBrick reviews campaigns before launch, moderates brick messages, and reserves the right to decline, pause, remove, or refund campaigns that violate the Acceptable Use Policy or where authority cannot be verified.

Still not sure GiveBrick is the right shape for you

The two questions that decide it are usually whether you need something physical to hand over, and how you are pricing a brick. Both are worked through in full on the digital vs. engraved comparison and on pricing — including the case where an engraved-brick vendor nets your organization more than we do.
